Apollo 11 and Pink Floyd

The Floyd was playing live and being recorded, while the moon landing happened, 40 years ago yesterday.

Dave shares.

The jam itself…they had such a different sound to their jams then, different from other jammy bands…spacey. Here’s the track, called Moonhead, sounds a lot like Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.

Dave writes about the event in the Guardian.

We [Pink Floyd] were in a BBC TV studio jamming to the landing. It was a live broadcast, and there was a panel of scientists on one side of the studio, with us on the other. I was 23.

No post about Apollo 11 would be complete without some Buzz Aldrin.

Bloggers write on it…
