Among a flurry of new entries from Peter Andre, Jay-Z, Pixie Lott and David Gray is an album by a band that has been around longer than any of them: Porcupine Tree.

Crushing sounds.

Saw them at Lollapalooza and the sounds coming from the stage were unlike anything I’d heard, the drums were awesome.

Guitar sound was dark and thick, also just crushing of heart, mind and soul.

And tons of dark energy.

Now I find tihs really interesting, I hope they do something that isn’t NIN-based. I don’t need to hear another NIN record, the world is not about screaming and angst, but I would really like to hear the vintage synths brought out again and used. Reznor used some on Ghosts but it didn’t grab me. Maybe a new era of synthpop? i’d definitely be on board with that.

Numan is a pioneer.

I don’t really consider this place to be anything much…because what is Rock and Roll besides what our beloved rock music critics define it to be, which they do so with arrogance and pomposity.

LL cool J? Rock and Roll? No Rush? finally Genesis?

Rock and Roll, sort of

New MUSE

The new record is not nearly as progressive as I expected, but it’s not bad. I feel it has to grow on me a little, I get a sense of trying to hard for some reason. But I now have the new Porcupine Tree, and that’s pushed aside Muse for a bit here…
